BIO

“Katherine Thorne playfully mixes dance, electro-pop and rock elements and glues them all together with something uniquely her own. Katherine was born in San Francisco in 1985 and grew up in the Bay Area. Throughout her youth she was trained in classical piano and voice, which has played a significant role in her musical endeavors. This, combined with coming from a musical family and growing up in California, has primed her for success from the beginning. Katherine graduated from Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania and excelled in her studies, fashioning the drive and devotion of a true academic and always putting time in to study her biggest musical influences. These influences include Gwen Stefani, Britney Spears, Fergie and her composer father, Paul Thorne. Katherine has always been interested in what makes a pop song work and why. She now applies this method to crafting her music, and is able to find unique ways to occasionally parody pop music with a tongue-in-cheek twist. Katherine’s debut album, Chicks This Mean, a collection of nine playful and contagious songs, written and performed by Katherine, was completed in September 2008 and was kept all in the family. It was produced by Katherine and her father and mixed by her brother, Chris Thorne, who also played bass and percussion on several tracks. The lyrical content feeds off of personal experiences, yet plays on what a pop music fan might be expecting. The energy synergized by her lyrics and instrumentation is sexy, edgy and sometimes silly. “I try to express my humorous, outgoing side in my lyrics,” says Thorne, who was once considered by her friends to be shy and “too serious.” Currently seeking licensing opportunities, she is already electrifying fans with her new single, “SexyCam,” an infectious melody that chases you down with its beat and when it finds you, refuses to let go.

“Chicks This Mean” is available now for purchase on iTunes for $8.91.
Katherine is currently working on her second album which will be released in the coming year.
